Chapter 10 - The Legacy of Strength

Three years later, the Grand View trail was reopened. I took Julian there for the first time. He was a curious, bright boy who loved the way the sun dappled through the cedar roots.

We stopped at the spot where I had found Jessica. It was just a place in the woods now. No monsters. No fear.

"Grandpa," Julian asked, pointing to a patch of moss. "Is this where you found Mom?"

I picked him up, feeling the weight of him in my arms—the weight of a bloodline that was pure, strong, and belonged exactly where it was.

"Yes," I said. "This is where we learned that you never let anyone tell you that you don't belong. You are the architect of your own life, Julian. You build it with honesty, you build it with love, and if someone tries to tear it down, you show them exactly how strong the foundation is."

We walked back to the truck, the woods behind us silent and peaceful. I didn't look back. The past was sanded down, finished, and put away. The future was ahead, and for the first time in a long time, it felt completely, beautifully our own.
