Chapter 6 - The Trial of the Century

The courtroom was packed to maximum capacity. The media called it the "Gala Downfall Trial."

Taking the stand, Sarah wore a simple navy dress. She looked radiant, healed, and completely unbothered by the glare of her family's defense lawyers.

The defense attorney tried to cross-examine her aggressively. "Mrs. Harrison-Miller, isn't it true that you were highly emotional due to years of failed IVF treatments? Isn't it possible you lost your balance on your high heels and your father merely reached out to grab you, inadvertently causing the fall?"

"I was barefoot," Sarah replied clearly, her voice echoing perfectly through the microphone. "My shoes were by the door. And my father didn't reach out to save me. He fisted his hand into my dress and yanked because I refused to obey his command. My mother told me to stop faking it while my son was suffocating in my womb."

The courtroom gasped. Victoria Vance then played the audio from the 911 call Mark had made, where Eleanor’s cruel voice could clearly be heard in the background screaming, “Stop faking it! You’re embarrassing us!”

Next came the testimony of Dr. Aris. He described the horrific nature of the placental abruption and stated under oath that both Sarah and the baby were less than three minutes away from total organ failure and death.

When Eleanor took the stand to defend her husband, Victoria Vance ruthlessly dismantled her. She produced the emails showing Eleanor and Chloe conspiring to cancel Sarah’s fertility health coverage.

"You didn't just want her off the sofa, Mrs. Harrison," Victoria stated fiercely. "You wanted her out of the family. You wanted her child gone."

Eleanor broke down on the stand, screaming insults at Sarah, completely exposing her malicious, narcissistic nature to the judge and the jury. The mask of high-society elegance was shattered forever.
