Chapter 10 - The Golden Harbor

The sun was setting over Elliott Bay, casting a long, brilliant path of crimson and gold across the water. Marcus stood on the deck of his private motor yacht, the Iris, which was idling gently near the mouth of the harbor. The city skyline rose behind them, a wall of glass and steel reflecting the twilight, but Marcus’s back was turned to the towers.
Milo sat on a small bench near the helm, wearing a bright yellow life vest, deeply concentrated on a children’s book about old sailing ships. Wren stood beside Marcus at the railing, her small hand slipped securely into his large palm.
The air was fresh, carrying the scent of salt water and the incoming tide.
"Dad?" Wren asked, looking up into his face, her hazel eyes catching the golden light of the setting sun.
"Yes, sweetheart?"
"Do you think Mama can see us from up there?" she asked, pointing toward the first faint stars blinking into existence in the darkening sky.
Marcus felt a profound, peaceful warmth expand in his chest. He reached into his pocket, his fingers brushing against the leather bracelet with the green beads, before pulling his hand out to wrap his arm around her shoulders.
"I know she can, Wren," Marcus said, his voice steady, filled with a deep, unshakeable certainty. "She’s watching over both of you. And she knows that I’m keeping my promise. I’m never going to let you go."
Milo closed his book with a happy thud and ran over to them, wedging himself between Marcus’s legs and wrapping his small arms around his dad’s knee. "Look, Dad! A big cargo ship is coming into the harbor!"
Marcus looked out toward the entrance of the bay, where a massive vessel was slowly gliding past the lighthouse, its lights twinkling against the dark water, safely returning home after a long, perilous journey across the ocean.

He knelt down on the wooden deck, pulling both of his children into a tight, warm embrace. The billionaire who had once possessed everything money could buy had finally found the one thing wealth could never replicate—a home, a future, and an endless harbor of unconditional love.
"We’re home, kids," Marcus whispered into the twilight as the boat turned gently toward the shore. "We’re finally home."
