Chapter 10 - A Father's Legacy

That evening, the sun set over our suburban home, casting a warm, orange glow across the manicured green lawn.
The small import shop I owned in town was open again. Business was quiet, honest, and steady—just the way I liked it.
Inside our cozy kitchen, the scent of roasting chicken and fresh garlic filled the air. Lily stood by the stove, humming a sweet melody as she stirred a pot of homemade gravy, while I chopped fresh vegetables at the wooden island.
"Dad?" Lily called out, looking over her shoulder at me with a playful smile.
"Yes, baby?"
"Can you hand me the rosemary from the garden window?"
I reached out, picking up the small clay pot of rosemary, and set it beside her stove.
Lily paused, looking down at my hands—hands that had once controlled an empire, hands that had brought down corrupt titans, hands that had protected her through the darkest storm of our lives.
She reached out, gently taking my hand in hers, squeezing my fingers with deep, unconditional love.
"I love you, Dad," she said softly, her blue eyes shining with warmth. "More than anything."
I pulled my daughter into a warm embrace, resting my chin on her head, breathing in the scent of her vanilla shampoo.
"I love you too, Lily," I whispered, looking out the kitchen window at the peaceful twilight sky.
The shadows of my past were gone forever. The blood had been washed clean. The monsters had been defeated, and the kingdom of arrogance had fallen to dust.

All that remained was the quiet light of a home built on love, courage, and an unbroken promise between a father and his daughter.
And that was more than enough.
