Chapter 10 - The Rhythm of the Heart

Four years later.

The summer sun was setting over the Atlantic Ocean, painting the sky in brilliant shades of gold, orange, and purple.

On the private beach below the Rossi estate cliffs, the ocean waves lapped gently against the white sand.

A four-year-old boy with dark, wavy hair and bright hazel eyes was running along the shoreline, chasing a golden retriever puppy, his joyful laughter carrying across the water.

"Leo! Don't go too close to the water!" Hunter called out from a wooden blanket set up on the sand.

Hunter sat comfortably on the blanket, wearing a casual linen dress. In her lap lay a six-month-old baby girl with soft dark curls, sleeping peacefully against her chest, nursing quietly.

Her name was Sophia Lily Rossi.

Lorenzo walked down the wooden steps from the cliff path, carrying a basket of fruit and warm towels. He set the basket down, dropping to his knees beside Hunter, his arm sliding around her shoulders.

He looked down at his daughter nursing at Hunter’s breast, then looked out at his son playing in the surf.

"She eats as much as her brother did," Lorenzo chuckled softly, kissing Hunter’s cheek.

"She takes after her father," Hunter teased, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Always hungry for life."

Lorenzo looked out at the ocean, his heart filled with a profound, unshakeable peace.

Five years ago, he was a broken man living in a marble tomb, waiting for death to claim his starving son. He had believed that power came from fear, that strength came from violence, and that love was a weakness that only brought pain.

Then a young maid with cracked fingers and a grieving heart had walked into his nursery, unbuttoned her dress, and taught him the greatest truth in the world.

That life isn't saved by blood or money.

It is saved by love.

Leo came running back up the sand, his bare feet covered in wet sand, tossing a tennis ball for the puppy. He threw himself into Lorenzo’s lap, giggling uncontrollably.

"Daddy! Look! I found a shiny shell!" Leo cheered, holding up a polished pink seashell.

Lorenzo pulled his son into a warm, fierce embrace, while Hunter held their baby girl close to her chest.

Under the glowing golden sky, surrounded by the peaceful sound of the waves, the Rossi family sat together on the warm sand—bound not by fear or tragedy, but by an unbreakable love that would last forever.
