Chapter 10 - The Foundation of Forever

As the stars began to fill the clear night sky over Franklin, the last of the guests drove down the winding driveway, leaving the ridge in peaceful, tranquil quiet.

Soft fairy lights strung along the porch railing cast a warm, ambient glow across the cedar deck.

Inside the house, Leo was fast asleep in his room, fast bound to dreamland after a day of running across the grass.

Camille walked out onto the porch, wearing a soft cream cardigan over her dress, holding a cup of warm tea. She walked to the edge of the wooden railing and looked out at the valley below.

Down in the distance, the lights of the David & Camille Callaway Community Park twinkled like a constellation of earthbound stars. Where the cold limestone mansion had once stood, children now played, students studied, and families walked safely in the moonlight.

Soft footsteps sounded on the deck behind her.

Andre stepped up beside her, wrapping a warm wool blanket around her shoulders and pulling her back against his chest. He rested his chin gently against her shoulder, his arms holding her tight.

"What are you thinking about?" Andre asked softly, his breath warm against her cheek.

Camille leaned her head back against his chest, listening to the steady, comforting beat of his heart.

"I was thinking about that night in the ballroom," Camille admitted softly. "When the riding crop hit my shoulder."

Andre’s arms tightened around her protectively. "I still hate that you had to suffer that, Camille."

"Don't hate it, Andre," Camille said, turning around in his arms to look directly into his blue eyes—eyes that were now filled with unshakeable strength, deep devotion, and profound peace. "That crop didn't break me. It broke the spell. It was the moment you woke up, the moment the lies ended, and the moment we took our lives back."

She reached up, touching the silver wedding band on his finger, then brought her hand up to gently rest against his cheek.

"Look at what we built from the dust, Andre," she whispered. "A real home. A real company. A real family."

Andre looked down at his wife—the quiet, brilliant bride who had faced an empire of fear without flinching, who had protected his soul when he couldn't protect himself, and who had taught him how to love without condition.

"You are my foundation, Camille," Andre said, his voice thick with deep, overwhelming emotion. "You always have been."

He leaned down and kissed her—a long, deep, lingering kiss that carried the weight of their past struggles and the infinite promise of their future.

Above them, the Tennessee sky was wide, vast, and clear, filled with millions of burning stars.

And on the solid, unshakeable ridge below, the house built on love, truth, and courage stood quiet and illuminated—a sanctuary that no force on earth could ever tear down again.
