Chapter 7 - The Dawn of a New Bloodline

The battle for Warehouse 4 was over in less than twelve minutes.

The Moretti syndicate's upper leadership was completely dismantled, their tactical assets neutralized, and their reputation destroyed. The eight captive captains were untied, treated by mobile medical units, and brought before Vincent in the center of the warehouse.

Frankie, his face bruised but eyes burning with fierce pride, stepped up to Vincent.

"Boss," Frankie said, bowing his head respectfully. "We heard what Salvatore demanded. We heard that he asked for the boy in exchange for our lives."

Vincent placed a heavy hand on Frankie’s shoulder. "Salvatore was a fool, Frankie. He thought I valued territory over my people."

Frankie turned his eyes toward Marcus, who was standing quietly near the tactical truck, helping a young injured operative bandage his arm.

"The kid blocked Salvatore's escape on the gantry," Frankie noted, a deep grin spreading across his battered face. "He didn't run. He stood his ground against a man with a knife."

The eight captains walked over to Marcus. One by one, these hardened, ruthless men who commanded hundreds of soldiers across the city bowed their heads to the former homeless youth.

"You saved the boss's daughter, kid," Frankie said, clapping Marcus on the shoulder with enough force to make him stagger slightly. "And tonight, you helped save us. From this day on, if you ever need anything in this city, you call the West District crew. You're one of us now."

Marcus looked at the hardened men surrounding him, feeling a sudden, overwhelming lump form in his throat. For years, he had been an outcast, a nobody, a ghost. Now, he was surrounded by brothers who looked at him with genuine respect.

Vincent walked over, stopping beside Marcus, pulling a thick linen handkerchief from his pocket to wipe a streak of oil from Marcus's cheek.

"The Moretti family is finished, Marcus," Vincent said quietly as the first rays of morning sunlight began to break through the clouds over the harbor, illuminating the rain-slick docks. "The city is quiet again."

"What happens now, Mr. Torino?" Marcus asked softly.

Vincent looked out at the rising sun, then turned to Marcus, reaching out to straighten the collar of his tactical coat.

"Now, we go home," Vincent smiled. "Sophia is waiting for her breakfast. And tomorrow... your training begins."
