Chapter 3 — Sebastian Learns the First Truth

By noon, Sebastian had already broken three rules he didn’t know he was about to break.
He called his legal team.
He contacted private investigators.
He pulled surveillance from building security.
And he did something he had never done before:
He checked emotional history like it was financial fraud.
The first footage showed Vivian leaving.
No hesitation.
No argument.
No visible distress.
Just calm movement through a private elevator.
A woman already decided.
Sebastian paused the video.
Played it again.
That calmness bothered him more than anger would have.
Because anger meant connection.
Calm meant separation.
Then his attorney arrived.
A man who had defended him through mergers, lawsuits, and federal inquiries.
“This is not a disappearance case,” the attorney said carefully after reviewing the note.
Sebastian looked up.
“What is it, then?”
A pause.
Then—
“It’s a termination.”
Silence.
Sebastian’s voice lowered.
“Explain.”
The attorney hesitated.
“She didn’t leave impulsively. She prepared. Financial independence. Exit documentation. Exit timing aligned with external evidence gathering.”
Sebastian’s expression tightened.
“External evidence?”
The attorney looked uncomfortable.
“Yes.”
Sebastian stood slowly.
“What evidence?”
The attorney slid a file onto the table.
Sebastian opened it.
And froze.
Natalie Voss.
Emails.
Meeting logs.
Hotel bookings.
Patterns.
Dates.
Everything structured.
Everything recorded.
Everything… observed.
Sebastian felt something shift inside him.
For the first time—
May you like
he realized Vivian hadn’t been reacting to him.
She had been documenting him.
