Chapter 9 - The Sovereign’s Promise

The wedding was held on the grand lawns of the Vance estate, overlooking the glittering river under a clear evening sky. It wasn't a traditional mafia wedding; there were no shadow figures or hushed business conversations. It was a celebration of rebirth.
Dileia stood in the bridal suite, looking at herself in the mirror. Her dress was a stunning white silk gown with a long, intricate lace veil that trailed behind her like a cloud.
The door opened, and Maya ran in, wearing a matching miniature white dress, her arms full of flower petals. "Auntie! Everyone is waiting! Killian looks really handsome, but he keeps checking his watch because he's nervous!"
Dileia laughed, kneeling down to hug her niece. "Let's not keep him waiting then, sweetie."
When Dileia walked down the aisle, the string quartet played a soft, beautiful melody that seemed to wipe away every memory of the rain, the alleys, and the cold hospital corridors. Killian stood at the altar, looking incredibly dapper in a black tuxedo. As he watched her approach, the legendary 'Sovereign of Hadley' had a soft, vulnerable smile on his face that belonged only to her.
They exchanged vows of loyalty, protection, and an enduring, fierce love that had survived the darkest nights the city could offer.
"I promised to pay any price to have you stay beside me," Killian said, his voice rich with emotion as he held her hand. "But the truth is, Dileia, you are priceless. I am yours, completely, for as long as I breathe."

"You gave me a home when I had nothing, Killian," she replied, her voice steady and filled with love. "But more than that, you gave me a future. I love you."
As the priest pronounced them husband and wife, Killian pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss, and the guests rose in a standing ovation, fireworks bursting over the river in a brilliant display of light.
