Chapter 10 - A New Chapter

Bruce stood up and reached into his coat pocket. He stepped down on one knee right there on the sunlit veranda, framed by the ocean breeze and the distant sound of my daughters' laughter.
He pulled out a small velvet box and opened it, revealing a brilliant cushion-cut diamond ring that caught the morning light like a beacon.
"Bruce..." I gasped, my hand going to my heart.
"Six months ago, I walked into a charity dinner expecting another mindless corporate event," Bruce said, his voice rich with deep emotion. "Instead, I saw the bravest woman I have ever met. You taught me that wealth means nothing if you don't use it to protect the people you love. Olivia, Erica, and Holly have brought life and laughter into this cold house, and you... you brought light back into my heart."
He looked up at me, his eyes shining with sincerity. "Gabrielle Shields, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife, and letting me love and protect you and our daughters for the rest of our lives?"
Tears of joy flooded my eyes. I didn't hesitate for a single second.
"Yes! Yes, Bruce, absolute yes!" I cried out.
Bruce slid the ring onto my finger and stood up, pulling me into a deep, passionate kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck, sinking into his warmth and strength.
"Mommy! Mr. Bruce!"
The girls came running up the veranda steps, their eyes wide with excitement. Olivia looked at the glittering ring on my finger, then up at Bruce with a huge grin.
"Does this mean you're going to be our real dad now?" Olivia asked timidly.
Bruce dropped to his knees, opening his arms wide. All three girls threw themselves into his embrace, giggling as he swept them up into his arms.
"Only if you'll have me, sweetheart," Bruce smiled warmly, kissing each of their foreheads.

"Yay! We have a daddy!" Holly cheered, clapping her small hands.
I stood beside them, watching the man I loved embrace my children with boundless warmth and tenderness. The days of darkness, abuse, and fear were finally over. From the ashes of betrayal and grief, we had built a life grounded in justice, freedom, and an everlasting love.
