Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece of Life

One year later.

The cliffside chapel on Blackwood Point was bathed in the warm, golden light of late afternoon.

Violin music drifted softly through the open glass doors, blending with the rhythmic melody of the Pacific waves below.

Fifty close friends, family allies, and local community members sat in the wooden pews. Sheriff Alvarez sat near the front, wearing his best suit, while Nurse June wiped tears from her eyes beside Mrs. Gable.

At the altar stood Dominic, looking breathtakingly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo, his hands clasped in front of him, his gray eyes fixed on the back doors of the chapel.

Beside him stood two tiny ring bearers—Jack and Noah—wearing matching black tuxedos and tiny bow ties, holding velvet pillows with our new wedding bands.

The music shifted into a sweeping, romantic acoustic melody.

I stepped into the doorway.

I wore a breathtaking off-the-shoulder ivory lace gown that flowed around my feet like sea foam. A simple veil covered my face, and in my hands, I held a bouquet of white roses and lavender.

As I walked down the aisle toward the man I loved, I didn't feel the ghost of the past. I didn't feel the pain of the dark Manhattan hallway, the coldness of the county hospital, or the fear of the black SUVs.

All of it had been burned away by love, truth, and resilience.

When I reached the altar, Dominic stepped forward, taking my hands in his. His hands were completely steady, warm, and strong.

"You are the most beautiful vision I have ever seen in my life, Nora," he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion.

The minister spoke warm, beautiful vows of restoration, trust, and everlasting love.

When it came time for the rings, Jack and Noah stepped forward proudly, handing the velvet pillows to their father.

Dominic slid the platinum band onto my finger, looking deep into my eyes.

"With this ring, I give you my life, my soul, and my protection," Dominic declared, his voice ringing clear through the chapel. "I promise to love you, honor you, and cherish you through every storm and every sunshine, forever."

I slid his ring onto his finger, my voice clear and unwavering.

"With this ring, I give you my heart, my trust, and my future," I promised. "We survived the dark, Dominic. Now we walk in the light."

"By the authority vested in me," the minister smiled broadly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife again. Dominic, you may kiss your bride."

Dominic didn't wait a second.

He lifted my veil and pulled me into his arms, kissing me with a passion that made the entire chapel erupt into cheers and applause.

When we pulled back, Jack and Noah tackled our legs, hugging us tightly, laughing as Dominic scooped both boys into his broad arms, holding all three of us close against his chest.

We turned toward the open doors of the chapel, facing the bright, endless horizon of the ocean.

Hand in hand, with our sons laughing beside us and the warm sun shining down on our faces, we walked forward into our forever.
