Chapter 10 - The Horizon

A year passed.
The city was glowing under a clear, crisp autumn sky. I stood on the top-floor observation deck of the newly completed Metro Tower.
The building was finished. The high-tensile carbon supports had been installed flawlessly, making it the safest, most structurally advanced skyscraper in the region. Below us, the city stretched out like a vast, beautiful grid of lights and possibilities.
My father stood beside me, leaning gently on his cane, looking down at the streets below.
"It looks good, Bella," he said softly, a peaceful smile playing on his lips. "Your mother would have loved this view."
"She would have been proud of you, Dad," I said, putting my arm around his waist.
"She would have been proud of us," he corrected gently, squeezing my shoulder. "What's next for you, Executive Vice President? The board wants to nominate you as the official CEO at next month's meeting."
I looked out at the horizon, where the setting sun threw golden rays across the river.
"I took the job, Dad," I smiled. "On one condition."
"What's that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That my office stays right next to yours," I said. "Because every great construction firm needs two chief engineers."
My father laughed—a loud, booming, joyous sound that echoed out over the top of the city he had built, carried away by the cool evening wind.

The dark days were gone. The predators were caged. The empire had been restored, not by bitterness or revenge, but by justice, integrity, and the unbreakable bond between a father and his daughter.
We stood together on the top of the world we had reclaimed, ready for whatever horizon came next.
