Chapter 10 - An Empire of Healing

One year later.
The Grand Ballroom of the Seattle Waterfront Plaza was bathed in shimmering chandelier light, filled with hundreds of prominent guests, city leaders, international diplomats, and medical professionals.
It was the annual charity gala for the Steel Humanitarian Fund.
Standing on the raised podium was Aldrich Steel, looking radiant and healthy, raising a glass of champagne toward the crowd.
"To family," Aldrich toasted, his voice echoing through the grand hall. "To surviving the storm, and to the extraordinary woman who brought light back into our lives!"
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause.
At the head table, sitting beside her husband, Ren Callaway Steel looked breathtaking in an emerald green silk gown that matched the ring on her finger. Her dark hair was styled in elegant waves, her skin glowing with happiness and health.
Beside her, Orion Steel looked imposing, magnificent, and fiercely proud. His arm was wrapped protectively around the back of her chair, his fingers gently brushing against her bare shoulder. He paid no attention to the applause or the cameras; his eyes were fixed entirely on his wife.
Ren leaned closer to him, resting her hand on his knee under the table. "You're staring again, Mr. Steel."
"I can't help it, Mrs. Steel," Orion murmured, a rare, breathtaking smile lighting up his dark, handsome features. "You tend to steal every room you walk into."
"I learned from the best," she teased softly, leaning up to press a sweet kiss to his cheek.
Suddenly, Ren felt a subtle, familiar flutter in her stomach. She smiled, her hand instinctively moving down from his knee to rest gently over her lower abdomen.
Orion’s sharp eyes didn't miss the gesture. He froze, his body going rigid as his gaze snapped down to her hand, then back up to her glowing brown eyes. His steel-gray eyes widened with a sudden, overwhelming realization.
"Ren..." Orion whispered, his voice trembling—a rare, unscripted moment of vulnerability from the ruler of Seattle. "Is... is it?"
Ren smiled, a brilliant, tearful, beautiful smile that illuminated her entire face. She took his heavy, bloodied-and-healed hand and pressed it gently over her belly.
"You're going to be a father, Orion," she whispered softly into his ear. "A new Steel is coming."
Orion sat frozen for a fraction of a second, the news washing over him like a wave of pure, divine grace. The man who had once ruled an empire of shadows, who had walked through blood and fire, was now holding the future in the palm of his hand.
A tear slipped down Orion’s scarred jaw—a tear of pure, unfiltered joy. He pulled Ren into his arms, kissing her deeply, fiercely, and tenderly in front of the entire world, not caring who watched or who knew.
They had started on a cold, rainy night, standing at a weathered wooden door in the middle of a dark forest—a wounded mafia boss, a dying father, and a poor nurse running from her past.
They had walked through the valley of death, survived the flames of betrayal, and fought for every breath.
And now, standing in the bright, golden light of a new beginning, they hadn't just survived.

They had built an empire of healing, love, and an unbreakable legacy that would last forever.
