Chapter 10 - An Empire Built on Love

Three years later.
The sun was rising brightly over a sprawling, fifty-acre estate on the countryside outskirts of Chicago. Rolling green hills, lush gardens, and a private lake surrounded a magnificent stone mansion.
On the wide, wooden porch overlooking the water, a high-end breakfast spread was laid out—fresh pastries, organic fruits, steaming coffee, and orange juice.
Jade, now a nineteen-year-old brilliant university student studying pre-med at Northwestern, was sitting at the outdoor table, laughing as she helped four-year-old Leo build a massive tower out of wooden blocks.
"Look, Auntie Jade! It's higher than the trees!" Leo cheered, his dark hazel eyes—identical to his father's—sparkling with excitement.
"It sure is, buddy!" Jade laughed, ruffling his dark curly hair.
The grand French doors of the mansion opened softly.
Hannah stepped out onto the porch, wearing a comfortable white sundress, her dark hair glowing in the morning sun. She looked radiant, peaceful, and completely at ease. Her hand rested gently over her soft, round baby bump—she was six months pregnant with their second child, a little girl.
Behind her walked Dominic, dressed casually in a grey cashmere sweater and dark jeans. He stepped up behind Hannah, wrapping his large arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder, his hand gently covering hers over her belly.
"How are my two girls doing this morning?" Dominic murmured, pressing a warm kiss against her temple.
"We're doing wonderful," Hannah smiled, leaning back against his warm chest. "She's kicking a lot today. I think she wants to join Leo's block tower."
Dominic chuckled, a deep, rich sound of absolute contentment. He looked out over the peaceful lake, then over at Jade and Leo playing happily, and finally down at his beautiful wife.
Where there had once been blood, rain, and cold concrete alleys, there was now warmth, laughter, and an abundance of life.
He had built a multi-billion-dollar legitimate enterprise that funded hospitals, orphanages, and schools across the nation. The shadowy world of the mafia had been pushed into the past, replaced by an empire built on honor, protection, and true healing.
"What are you thinking about, Mr. Moretti?" Hannah asked softly, turning her head to look into his eyes.
Dominic smiled—a genuine, radiant smile that had long since replaced the cold glare of a mob boss.
"I was thinking about a cold night at the river warehouses," Dominic whispered, his eyes filled with endless love. "I was a dying man with a crying baby in my arms, asking a stranger for a promise."
Hannah reached up, gently tracing the familiar scar along his jaw. "And what did she do?"
Dominic leaned down, pressing his lips sweetly against hers before pulling her tight into his arms under the morning sun.

"She gave me a miracle," Dominic whispered. "She gave us a home."
