Chapter 10 - The Harvest of Peace

Five years later.
The summer sun shone warmly over the vast, green hills of the Leone Estate in Upstate New York. The wide, stone terrace overlooked a peaceful blue lake surrounded by blooming wild roses, oak trees, and stone pathways.
A large wooden table was set under a covered wooden pergola, filled with fresh pasta, grilled meats, crusty bread, and bowls of fresh fruit.
Around the table sat a family.
Mary sat at the head of the table, looking radiant, happy, and fulfilled. Beside her sat her brother and his family, whom Dante had helped relocate from Montana, along with several close directors of the Leone Charitable Foundation.
Near the edge of the lawn, sixteen-year-old Sophie was showing her four-year-old baby brother, Leo Leone, how to fly a colorful stunt kite in the warm summer breeze.
“Look, Daddy!” little Leo shouted, his dark hair falling over his forehead, his gray eyes shining just like his father’s. “It’s flying! It’s going to the clouds!”
Dante stood near the stone balustrade, holding a glass of iced tea, watching his son and daughter laugh as the kite soared against the clear blue sky.
He wore a simple linen shirt and dark trousers, looking relaxed, healthy, and deeply content. The ruthless mafia boss who had once ruled through fear was now a respected global philanthropist, a devoted husband, and a father loved by his children.
Mary walked over, slipping her arm through his, resting her head against his broad shoulder.
“What are you thinking about, my love?” Mary asked softly, watching their children playing on the lawn.
Dante turned his head, kissing her temple gently, pulling her close against his side.
“I was thinking about that night at the Belladonna Manor six years ago,” Dante admitted with a quiet smile. “I was thinking about how close I came to losing everything to a poison capsule inside a wedding cake.”
Mary looked up at him, her dark eyes filled with endless warmth. “And now?”
Dante looked out over the sunlit lake, watching little Sophie catch her baby brother as he ran across the grass, their joyful laughter echoing across the peaceful valley.

“And now,” Dante whispered, his voice rich with profound gratitude, “I realize that the poison didn't destroy me... because a brave little girl smashed the lie, and gave me the greatest life a man could ever ask for.”
Under the vast, bright sky, surrounded by endless love, family, and peace, the story that had begun in fear and betrayal ended in the ultimate victory of truth, honor, and unbreakable love.
