Chapter 10 - The Queen of Frostmere

Ten years later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the vast, green amphitheater constructed on the lakeside preserve of Frostmere.
Over five hundred people—townspeople, local families, university students, and state officials—were seated on the wooden benches surrounding the central stage. Banners fluttered in the warm breeze, reading: 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FROSTMERE LAND PRESERVE.
On the stage stood a tall, handsome eighteen-year-old young man in a tailored dark suit. He had piercing blue eyes, a sharp jawline, and a confident, warm posture as he stood behind the podium.
It was Milo Hart.
Beside the stage sat Graham Vale, his hair now handsomely graying at the temples, wearing a sharp suit, holding the hand of his nine-year-old daughter, Lily—a bright-eyed girl with Evelyn’s dark hair and warm smile.
Beside them sat Evelyn, looking radiant in a emerald green dress, her eyes shining with proud, emotional tears as she watched her son address the crowd.
“Ten years ago,” Milo’s strong, clear voice resonated through the loudspeakers, carrying across the quiet waters of the lake, “this land was almost lost. It was almost broken apart, cleared away, and turned into concrete for corporate profit.”
The crowd listened in absolute silence.
“People often ask me who saved this land,” Milo continued, smiling warmly down at his family in the front row. “They think it was a legal trust. They think it was a court ruling. But the truth is... it was saved by two people who believed that love, truth, and family are worth more than any amount of gold.”
Milo looked directly at Evelyn and Graham.
“My mother taught me that no matter how small you feel, you never let anyone make you bow your head,” Milo said, his voice thick with emotion. “And my father taught me that a real man stands between his family and the dark, no matter what it costs him.”
The entire crowd erupted into thunderous, standing applause.
Milo stepped down from the podium, walking down the wooden steps of the stage, and extended his arms.
Graham stood up, stepping forward and pulling his son into a powerful, deep embrace, patting his back with pride. “I am so proud of you, son,” Graham whispered.
“I learned from the best, Dad,” Milo smiled warmly.
Milo then turned to Evelyn, wrapping his arms around his mother, holding her tight as she kissed his cheek, her tears spilling over her smile.
“Look at what you built, Mama,” Milo whispered in her ear.
Evelyn looked around the amphitheater—at the hundreds of happy families laughing on the grass, at her daughter Lily chasing butterflies near the stage, at her handsome son who had grown into a brilliant, honorable young man, and at Graham, the man who had loved her through every dark valley and brought her into the light.

She reached out, slipping her hand securely into Graham’s, their fingers locking together in a grip that time, hardship, and secrets could never break.
The sun shone warm and bright over Frostmere—no longer a feared estate of shadows, but a sanctuary of life, hope, and everlasting love.
