CHAPTER 2 – The Father Who Answers in Five Minutes

The room did not move for a full second after I spoke.
Even the chandelier seemed to hesitate.
Adrian’s laughter faded first.
Then Vanessa’s smile.
Then the entire estate—like the world itself was holding its breath.
“You…” Adrian narrowed his eyes. “You called your father?”
I wiped blood from the corner of my lip with a slow, deliberate motion. My fingers trembled, but my voice didn’t.
“Yes.”
Vanessa let out a soft, disbelieving laugh. “Oh, this is rich. Who is he going to call? A lawyer? A security guard?”
I looked at her.
“No,” I said quietly. “Someone you should have never heard of.”
Adrian stepped closer, his riding crop still in his hand.
“Stop this performance,” he said coldly. “You’re bleeding on my floor.”
“My floor,” I repeated.
Something in my tone made him pause.
For the first time, uncertainty flickered in his eyes.
Then my phone vibrated.
Once.
Twice.
A call connected.
I pressed it to my ear.
“Dad,” I said.
Silence on the other end lasted less than a second.
Then a voice—low, controlled, dangerously calm.
“Where are you hurt?”
That was all he asked.
Not what happened. Not are you okay. Just that.
I looked straight at Adrian.
“I’m fine,” I said. “But you were right. I should have told you sooner.”
A pause.
Then:
“How many minutes do I have?”
I exhaled slowly.
“Five,” I said.
That was enough.
On the other side of the line, something shifted—like a switch being flipped inside a machine that had been waiting for years.
“Understood,” my father said.
The call ended.
Adrian frowned. “That’s it? That’s your billionaire father?”
Vanessa crossed her arms. “Sounds like a scam call.”
I almost smiled.
Almost.
Because I knew something they didn’t.
Five minutes is not a warning.
It is a countdown.
Minute 1
Adrian’s phone rang.
He frowned and answered.
“Yes?”
A pause.
His expression changed instantly.
“What do you mean frozen?”
Another pause.
“Who authorized that—?”
His voice stopped.
The color drained from his face.
Vanessa stepped closer. “What is it?”
He didn’t answer.
Minute 2
Every screen in the estate flickered.
The chandelier lights dimmed once.
Then every smart glass panel in the house turned black.
Adrian’s assistant called.
Then his CFO.
Then his legal team.
All at once.
His hands tightened.
“No,” he muttered. “That’s impossible.”
I watched him carefully.
Not with fear.
With recognition.
He was realizing something was already too late.
Minute 3
A car engine roared outside the estate gates.
Not one.
Dozens.
Vanessa turned sharply toward the window.
“What’s happening out there?”
Adrian moved for the balcony.
And stopped.
Because the security system—his security system—had already gone offline.
Completely.
He whispered, “How did they breach Vale Estate security in under five minutes?”
I answered softly.
“They didn’t breach it.”
“They built it.”
That made him turn to me.
Slowly.
“Who are you?” he asked.
For the first time, his voice wasn’t commanding.
It was uncertain.
Minute 4
The front doors of the estate unlocked by themselves.
Not broken.
Not forced.
Just… released.
Vanessa stepped back. “Adrian…?”
But Adrian was no longer looking at her.
He was staring at me.
As if seeing me for the first time.
And then—
A voice echoed through the hall.
Calm. Mature. Absolute authority.
“Step away from my daughter.”
The doors opened.
And the man who walked in did not need an introduction.
Because the entire financial world already knew him.
Adrian Vale took one step back.
“No…” he whispered.
Vanessa froze. “Who is that?”
But Adrian already knew.
Because the man standing in the entrance—
was not just a billionaire.
He was the system Adrian had built his entire empire trying to enter.
And failed.
Minute 5
My father’s gaze swept over the room.
The blood on the marble.
The riding crop in Adrian’s hand.
The woman behind him in a stolen dress.
And then—
He looked at Adrian.
Only once.
“Which hand touched her?” he asked calmly.
Adrian couldn’t speak.
For the first time in his life, words failed him.
My father nodded slightly, as if that was answer enough.
He lifted his phone.
Spoke one sentence.
“Begin liquidation.”
Adrian’s phone lit up one last time.
Then shut off permanently.
Vanessa’s knees weakened.
And Adrian Vale—
the man who once believed the world bent for him—
collapsed onto the marble floor.
Not from injury.
From realization.
Everything he owned.
Everything he built.
Everything he believed was power—
had just been erased in five minutes.
And I finally stood up.
Slowly.
Wiping blood from my lips.
May you like
“Now,” I said quietly, looking at him.
“This is where your story ends.”
