Chapter 10 - THE TRUE HARVEST

Three months later. Thanksgiving Day, November 2026.
The sun shone brightly over the coastal hills of San Diego, casting a golden light across the wide wooden patio of my new home overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The long outdoor dining table was set for Thanksgiving dinner. It was covered in fresh autumn flowers, roasted vegetables, warm pumpkin pies, and a golden, perfectly carved turkey resting in the center.
Gathered around the table were the people who meant everything to me—Evelyn Vance, Marcus Cole, my mother, my father, Mark, his two sons, and my sweet six-year-old daughter, Lily.
There were no cold stares. There was no cruel judgment. There were no hidden legal documents or explosive corporate secrets. There was only the warm, joyous sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and genuine conversation echoing across the sunny terrace.
My father stood up at the head of the table, holding a glass of sparkling apple cider.
He looked around at everyone seated at the table, his eyes coming to rest on me and Lily.
“One year ago,” my father said, his voice deep, clear, and full of emotion, “our family stood on the brink of total ruin. We were broken by pride, divided by arrogance, and blinded by our own foolish mistakes. But today... today we sit here in the warmth of true love, forgiven, rebuilt, and whole.”
He lifted his glass high into the clear blue sky.
“To my daughter, Claire,” my father said, tears of gratitude sparkling in his eyes. “The strongest, bravest, and most honorable woman I have ever known. Thank you for showing us the way home.”
“To Claire!” everyone around the table echoed in unison, clinking their glasses together with joyful smiles.
Lily leaned against my side, wrapping her small arms around my waist, looking up at me with her bright, beautiful dark eyes.
“Are you happy, Mommy?” she asked softly.
I looked around the table at my parents, who were smiling warmly at her, at my brother, who was helping his sons serve pie, at my best friend, who was laughing by the ocean railing, and down at the sweet, fearless little girl in my arms.

I took a deep, peaceful breath, feeling the warm sun shining down upon us, knowing that no storm could ever shake the foundation of the life we had built.
“I am completely happy, baby,” I whispered, kissing her sweet forehead. “Happy Thanksgiving.”
