Madison knew that local authorities were compromised, just as her father boasted. To bring down The Vance Group, she needed to go higher. She contacted Special Agent Marcus Vance (no relation), an aggressive federal investigator with the FBI's corporate fraud and public corruption division in Washington D.C., whom she had met years ago at a charity gala.
Madison and David met Agent Marcus in a secluded motel on the outskirts of Fort Worth. Together, they laid out the evidence. David provided his original research notes, which he had secretly buried in a waterproof container beneath the floorboards of his old grandfather's cabin. Madison provided the high-resolution photos of the PROJECT AV-PARKER file, along with financial transaction receipts showing the bribes paid to city officials.
"This is massive," Agent Marcus said, adjusting his glasses as he reviewed the documents. "This isn't just corporate fraud; this is racketeering, extortion, and systemic corruption. With the evidence of the hit-and-run cover-up, we can bypass the local courts entirely. We can bring federal charges against Arthur and Julian Vance." But Marcus warned them. "Once we initiate the arrests, they will fight dirty. You two need to go into hiding until the tactical teams move in."
For the next week, Madison and David stayed at the remote cabin. In the quiet of the woods, away from the chaos of the city, they talked for hours. They healed. They recounted the nights they spent crying themselves to sleep, the agonizing loneliness of their separation.

One evening, sitting on the porch watching the sunset, David looked at his hands, which were finally clean and healing. "I thought I lost you forever, Madison. I thought my life was completely over." Madison leaned her head against his shoulder, gripping his arm tightly. "Your life didn't end, David. It was just on pause. And from now on, we’re writing the script together."
The next morning, the news broke. The FBI had executed simultaneous raid warrants on The Vance Group headquarters and the Preston Hollow estate.
