Chapter 5: The Silent Birth

The morning of the C-section arrived. The operating room was tense, filled with specialists who looked at Laura as a medical curiosity. Dr. Roth was shaking as he prepared the incision. Ethan stood at the edge of the room, his eyes never leaving Laura’s face.

As the scalpel touched skin, the unthinkable happened.

Laura’s eyes didn't just flicker; they flew open. They were clear, piercing, and terrifyingly aware. She let out a gasp that sounded like someone surfacing from deep water. The monitors screamed in protest as her vitals spiked, but she didn't look at the doctors. She looked at Ethan.

"The garden," she whispered. Her voice was raspy, unused, but unmistakable. "I found the way through the garden."

The delivery was swift and miraculous. A healthy baby boy was born into a room that had moments ago been a tomb. Laura, despite the immense trauma of her body, was miraculously conscious. The medical team was in total shock; there were no neurological explanations for a woman in an eight-month coma to wake up in the middle of major surgery and hold a conversation.

But as the baby was placed in her arms, the monitors leveled out into a peaceful, steady rhythm. The medical staff stopped trying to explain and simply started doing their jobs. Laura was alive. The baby was alive. The impossible had happened.
